Overview

At Silkline, we have a bold mission - bring transparency and reliability to global supply chains.

We are starting by building the modern operating system for procurement, helping businesses understand their supply networks and adapt to disruption.

Silkline is an early-stage tech startup backed by top venture investors. We are currently building and launching with our initial design partners. Come be on the ground floor as we look to rapidly scale our product offering and customer base.

The Founding Team

Isaac Chambers, is a 3x founder and started his career at Deloitte Consulting, focusing on supply chain & manufacturing operations for the aerospace & defense sector.

Brent Shulman is a full-stack engineering leader and was previously an engineer at Palantir and Pave. While at Pave (where he joined as the 10th engineer), he founded, grew, and led the data integration team - scaling from 10 to thousands of customer connections.

The Opportunity

As the founding engineer, you will be critical in setting Silkline’s technical direction. You will be hands-on, building our early product as well as talking directly with our initial customers and users. From the start, is critical that you are able to build 0-1 product with great UI/UX. As we grow, you will own and lead the architectural roadmap that will lay the foundation for the Silkline platform. Your technical leadership will be a key factor in supporting and growing our engineering and product teams.

You need to be both strategic and tactical. We are looking for a builder to take us from product specs and built-out front-end components to an enterprise-ready application. We are also looking for a self-starter, not afraid to get their hands dirty and rapidly iterate on prototypes early in the development lifecycle. An ability to handle ambiguity is a must.

We are uniquely positioned to work with several large manufacturers as our anchor customers. Now, we need an engineer that can help build the platform that will fundamentally change and improve supply chain networks.

Looking back on your first 12 months at Silkline, you will have...

  • Built and led the delivery of the early versions of the Silkline platform spearheading pilot programs at initial customers
  • Worked with the team to think through strategy and the evolution of the business
  • Influenced new product and feature design while defining a long-term technical strategy aligned with industry best practices
  • Designed and implemented platform integrations with outside APIs, partners, and cloud infrastructure
  • Built something scrappily to show customer value that we now have earned the right to re-architect for scale.

What you bring to Silkline:

  • 5+ years building across front-end and back-end
    • We are ideally looking for someone “front-end leaning” to help round out the current team skillset (Typescript, React, Next.js, GraphQL)
  • Startup experience and/or agency experience (bonus if it is in supply chain) Early-stage product experience building from zero to one
  • Ability to build out various API integrations with speed
    • We use modern open-source data integration tools (Airbyte, Dagster, Postgres - as we scale, this could include Spark and Snowflake)
  • Experience working with non-technical stakeholders and users. Comfortable leading and managing an engineering team
Ideal experience includes previous work with various ERP system API

Additional:

  • $125-175k salary / 0.5-1.5% equity (depending on level of experience and salary/equity package)
  • Opportunity to work with an elite team of entrepreneurs and engineers
  • Opportunity to change the world by improving global supply chains
